Bronnley History
Bronnley, as the company has
become known, was founded in England more than 100 years ago and today
enjoys selling all over the world.
Started in 1883 by a 19 year
old entrepreneur, James Bronnley, (or Jimmy as he was known to his friends)
had spent a year in Paris where he studied the art of perfumery and of soap
making. He returned to England with the burning ambition "to make the best
soap in the world" which has become part of the Bronnley logo. This
sentiment, expanded to include all the toiletries, continues to be the focus
of today's Bronnley.
Initially located in London,
the business grew and the company eventually moved their center of
operations to the town of Brackley, deep in the heart of the English
countryside. Bronnley began as a privately owned company and it continues
today, under the direction of the Company Chairman, Miss Ann Rossiter OBE,
granddaughter of the founder, Jimmy Bronnley.
Bronnley are renowned for
their elegant soaps which are richly perfumed and produced with the highest
quality natural ingredients. The soaps have rich and creamy lather to help
care for the skin. Emollients such as sweet almond oil, glycerin and
lanolin are included in the soaps to provide moisturizing properties. These
vital ingredients help the skin to feel soft and supple.
The high level of perfume
used in Bronnley soaps provides a beautiful, long lasting fragrance allowing
skin to be lightly perfumed. Bronnley uses modern and fashionable perfumes
such as Rose or Citrus in some ranges, traditional, rich perfumes, to be
mixed thoroughly and evenly into the soap. The process produces a soap that
is finely textured, smooth and soft. Allied to other production techniques,
this ensures the soaps can be molded to a high standard of shape and
detail. It also ensures the soaps are uniform all the way through and are
less like to crack prematurely.
Bronnley also produces a
comprehensive range of toiletry, personal care and perfumery products all
with a variety of natural fruit and floral fragrances. These include
moisturizing bath foams, cubes and oils designed to soften and fragrance
bath water, cleansing shower gels, talcum powder, hand cream and body
lotions to care for the skin. Bronnley's range also includes elegant
colognes, eau de toilette and home fragrancing products.
Bronnley makes their own
soaps and toiletries - design, print, and produce all cartoning and
packaging - produce their wooden boxes in their own woodshop - photograph
products, and print their own catalogs.
Constant attention to
marketing trends keeps packaging updated, fresh and appealing.
Selling in 67 counties,
Bronnley continues to grow from strength to strength. Coming to the shores
of America in 1905 as master craftsmen in soap making, Bronnley produced
private label soaps for just about every high profile US department store
one can think of: I Magnin's, Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Miller and
Rhoads, Strawbridge & Clothier, L.S Ayers. Thalheimer's, Nordstom's. In the
1970's the dollar's great weakening against the pound put a temporary end
to Bronnley's US custom soap business. This decline gave rise to Bronnley's
own branded soaps and toiletries. Today Bronnley's US Custom soap business
has been resurrected assuring Bronnley's recognition world-wide for quality
and distinction in body care and bath perfumery. |
